The Buffalo City Committee on Legislation voted to send planning-board findings for a proposed development at the Volkers lot at Elmwood and Amherst Street to the full council without a committee recommendation, allowing additional meetings and negotiation.
A council member who had the floor said items 42 and 48 relate to the development at the Volkers lot and explained the committee was sending them without recommendation to allow staff and elected officials to meet with the developer and neighbors. The council member said they planned to meet later the same day with John Fell and the developer to gather more information.
The council member emphasized the decision to send without recommendation did not mean the committee had adopted a final position and that further discussion would occur before the full council vote. The committee also included item 45 among items sent without recommendation.
Sending the items without recommendation preserves the committee’s ability to hold further discussions and does not constitute final approval. The items will be considered by the full Common Council at its next meeting.
