The Buffalo City Committee on Legislation voted to forward with a favorable recommendation six special-use permit applications to allow parking lots that would serve adjacent businesses and open for events.
Eric Reid, market president for Premium Parking in Western New York, told the committee he applied for six permits covering multiple parcels — 12 East Tupper; 715, 723, 731 and 733 Main; and 678 Main. Reid said five adjacent parcels form a single approximately 45-space lot that primarily serves nearby businesses and tenants and would be opened for event parking on an as-needed basis.
Reid said the lot would remain closed to the general public except for events, when rates would be set at about $8–$10 per event. The committee asked whether the parcels were contiguous and whether operations would be limited to daytime events; Reid confirmed the five parcels comprise the shared lot and that event parking would be daytime only.
The committee opened the public hearings for items 10 through 15 together, received the applicant’s presentation and then voted to send the six applications with a recommendation to the full council. The motion to send the items with the committee’s recommendation was seconded by Council member Rivera.
The committee’s favorable recommendation will be included in the packets sent to the full Common Council for final action.
