Transportation and right-of-way staff described the first request as a private retaining wall and driveway access on Algonquin Road where a homeowner’s grades require a short encroachment into county right of way. Assistant Director Evan Brown told the board the retaining wall enters the county right of way by “a couple feet” to allow driveway construction; the homeowner would be responsible for repair and maintenance and the county determined operations would not be affected.
The second request came from the Ken Caryl Ranch Master Association to replace neighborhood and trail signage. Staff said existing informal wood posts do not meet Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD, referenced in the meeting as METCD) standards and are deteriorating. The association proposes METCD‑complaint signage on breakaway posts for public road signs and trail signage (trail signs are non‑MUTCD but will use breakaway posts); the association will own and maintain the signs.
Commissioners voiced no objections at the briefing and recorded support for staff to work with the County Attorney’s Office to draft license agreements for placement on a future business hearing agenda.
