Routt County to apply for $300,000 state grant for digital accessibility work

Routt County commissioners on Oct. 7 authorized staff to submit an application for a $300,000 grant from the Colorado Office of eHealth Innovation (OEHI) to address digital-accessibility needs. Staff said the request would fund document remediation, a website audit, professional consulting and sustainable implementation of accessibility tools.
County staff explained the grant is state funding with no local match requirement and that funds awarded must be spent by June 2026. Public-health staff routed the opportunity to county IT and accessibility teams; the county will use the funding to support countywide public-facing accessibility work and said applicants were encouraged to apply during the current OEHI funding round.
Why it matters: improving public-facing digital accessibility helps the county meet legal obligations for publicly posted content and supports residents who rely on accessible formats. Staff said existing county work on accessibility is ongoing and that additional resources would be used to expand remediation across departments.
