Jones County tax assessors approve 21 motor-vehicle appeals, vote to roll valuation work to 2026
Summary
At its Oct. 2 meeting the Jones County Board of Tax Assessors approved 21 motor-vehicle appeals, reviewed status of property appeals and scheduled Board of Equalization hearings, and voted to roll valuation work into the 2026 year after technical-appraisals staff reported progress on fieldwork.
Jones County Board of Tax Assessors members on Oct. 2 approved 21 motor-vehicle appeals, reviewed the status of ongoing property appeals and accepted staff’s recommendation to roll valuation work into the 2026 tax year.
The action came after staff reported that most outstanding appeals have been worked and forwarded where appropriate to the Board of Equalization (BOE). "We have 29 BOE no changes," a staff member told the board, and staff said 311 appeals were resolved and four were withdrawn. Members voted to roll valuation work to the 2026 year so staff and contractors can begin next year’s field work now that current appeals are largely processed.
