City finance staff reminded the City Finance Committee of several upcoming fiscal items and proposed a timeline for future discussion. During the meeting a staff member said, “Just a few reminders of upcoming, tax levy, will be between now and and the end of the year. We'll we'll try to do that in November potentially, and also, health insurance renewal, and also, property liability and more comp renewal are 1 1 dates.”
On the question of water and sewer rates, staff said, “Typically, those have had February dates. We can obviously discuss that at any time, but I think it would be good to, get through the tax levy and and do maybe a a take a look at the 3 and 5 year budget forecast and and, revisit that for a February date back if that's fine with you on a date.” The remarks indicated the committee planned to review water and sewer rates during its customary February schedule after completing the tax-levy work.
The exchange was a staff briefing and scheduling discussion; no ordinance, rate change, or formal vote on rates or the levy occurred during the meeting. Committee members were told staff would keep them posted on insurance renewal rates and the timing of the tax-levy process. The meeting record shows the minutes from the finance meeting held 09/15/2025 were approved by motion of Alderman Reynolds with a second from Alderman Thompson, and the meeting was later adjourned on a subsequent motion by Alderman Reynolds, seconded by Alderman Thompson.
Committee members did not take final action on the tax levy, insurance renewals, or rate changes; staff presented timing and forecasting recommendations and will return with additional information as rates and levy estimates become available.
