Hebron — The Hebron Board of Selectmen on Sept. 25 approved an $8,502.95 early‑voting grant from the Connecticut Secretary of the State and authorized Town Manager Andrew J. Tierney to apply for, accept and sign necessary documents.
The board adopted a motion to accept the award after staff said the grant was time sensitive and the next regular meeting would be after the program deadline. The vote was recorded in the meeting: Selectman Dan Larson, Selectman Sean Fitzgerald, Selectman Tiffany Thiel and Selectman Keith Bennett all voted in the affirmative.
Why it matters: The grant will help pay costs associated with early voting days, including staffing and supplies. Selectmen noted that increased early-voter turnout can make the grant a cost-effective investment for the town.
Background and vote
Town staff presented the grant language and amount during the meeting and noted the submission deadline required board authorization before the next scheduled meeting. A motion was read into the record and the board voted to authorize the town manager to accept and sign the grant documents.
Ending: The town manager was authorized to complete grant paperwork so Hebron can receive and use the Secretary of the State funds for early voting operations.
