"If you a helicopter flying at night and you put a laser on that helicopter, that is a felony," Daniels said. He told KWCD his office is working on a joint operation with the Sierra Vista Police Department to investigate an incident; he added, "If we find out who did that, we're coming after them."
Daniels did not cite a specific statute on-air or provide details about the date, time or location of the incident beyond calling it a serious violation currently under joint investigation. He said the investigation did not involve the county's own helicopter but stemmed from a separate complaint.
The sheriff asked that anyone with information contact law enforcement. He said the conduct poses a danger to flight crews and is taken seriously by local agencies.
