The Board of Regents' Facilities and Property Committee approved an Act 959 project at LSU to renovate restrooms in the Student Union (first through fourth floors), a high‑use facility serving students, faculty and visitors. The committee voted to recommend the project, and the motion passed.

Committee staff reminded members that Act 959 of 2003 permits institutions to pursue capital projects with costs up to $10 million outside the traditional capital outlay process provided those projects are not funded with state operating dollars. The LSU project is estimated at $1.7 million and will be paid for with self‑generated auxiliary revenues.

According to the staff presentation, the renovation will replace deteriorated components, upgrade fixtures to meet current code and ADA requirements, and refresh finishes across restrooms on each floor. The committee noted the project’s emphasis on improved accessibility and user experience in a high‑traffic student facility.
