Comal ISD officials told the board on Sept. 25 that the Texas Education Agency has completed five intruder-detection audits at district campuses and that the district has implemented corrective steps including staff training and a school-safety improvement plan. Mister Wunderlich, presenting the audit summary, said in-person training emphasized ensuring exterior doors are properly closed, locked and latched. He said a comprehensive school safety improvement plan has been developed and that the district’s safety and security committee will review the findings and corrective actions on Oct. 23, 2025. Wunderlich said TEA guidelines prohibit board-specific details from being discussed in open session. Superintendent Dr. Chapman told the board staff had provided an email with additional detail and that some matters could be discussed in closed session. The board did not take formal action in open session on the audits; the presentation served as information and a public notice that corrective measures are underway.
