On Sept. 24, 2025, the Zoning Board of Appeals continued case No. 25042, a petition to allow a video-gaming terminal establishment at 711 Park Boulevard, until Oct. 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. in Room 3500B after the applicant's attorney was unable to appear.
The matter, filed as a conditional-use request to permit a video-gaming terminal establishment in a B1 local business zoning district and seeking variations to locate such an establishment within 1,000 feet of a place of assembly, a school and an existing video-gaming terminal, was published in the Daily Herald on Sept. 9, 2025. Robert Cartel, member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, granted a first continuance at the applicant's request and said, "It's our custom to grant a first continuance...but we'll accommodate you in that regard."
Gurinderpal Singh, who identified himself as the operator of the facility at 711 Park Boulevard, was present and was sworn in. Cartel told Singh that the attorney had indicated a communication issue prevented attendance and that the case would be rescheduled. Cartel also noted the board prefers continuance requests be made earlier but approved this one as a first-time accommodation.
No members of the public were present to comment at the hearing. Cartel said the Oct. 15 hearing will commence at 6 p.m. in Room 3500B and that two cases are scheduled that evening. With no other business on the agenda, Cartel closed the public hearing and adjourned the meeting.
The continuation postpones any formal action on the conditional-use request and the three proposed variations until the Zoning Board of Appeals reconvenes on Oct. 15.
