The Park Commission voted to apply for a Massachusetts Arts Council (local arts council) grant to support Music in the Pines next summer. A commissioner moved to apply for $1,000 in arts council funding; the motion was seconded and passed by unanimous voice vote.

Staff said the commission already has $300 raised from Lakeville Day and that a $1,000 grant would allow the commission to bring three weeks of music and add a fourth week funded by the commission. Commissioners agreed the program appealed to the community and instructed staff to complete the application before the October deadline.

No further conditions were attached to the motion; staff will submit the application and notify the commission of next steps if the award is recommended by the arts council.
