The Lapeer County Board of Commissioners set two public hearings related to Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) activity and authorized the Committee of the Whole to act on one grant application. First, the board set a public hearing on the county's Community Development Block Grant program for Oct. 9, 2025 at 9 a.m. County staff said CDBG administration is handled by a third-party administrator that manages small loans and emergency repairs; the board noted that last year the county exceeded a $35,000 threshold that requires a public hearing. Later in the meeting the board also approved a motion to set a public hearing for a proposed CDBG grant application in the amount of $41,126 to be held during the Oct. 9, 2026 Committee of the Whole meeting. That motion gave the Committee of the Whole authority to act on the application and authorized the chair and county administrator to sign documents related to the application. County officials said a representative from the Human Development Commission will attend the Oct. 9, 2025 hearing to answer questions. The board approved both motions by voice vote.
