Board authorizes preservation of historical records and sale of surplus county items at auction

The Lapeer County Board of Commissioners authorized two properties-committee recommendations: preservation work for historical register documents and disposal of surplus county property by public auction. The board authorized the Register of Deeds to proceed with co-filing preservation of historical records — specifically index books 2, 4 and 6 and 100 plats — at a cost not to exceed $30,000 to be paid from automation fund 256-711-977.010. The motion specified no additional cost to the county general fund. The board also approved a request from buildings and grounds and the parks department to sell items no longer needed by county departments at public auction. Register of Deeds staff (identified in the meeting as Amy Stern) was authorized to sign the preservation agreement.
