Representatives from Eisenhower Health briefed the Palm Desert City Council Sept. 25 and thanked the city for support toward a child care center for hospital staff. Monica Vasquez, speaking for Eisenhower Health Foundation, said the system has raised $250 million of a $279 million capital campaign and noted a $2.5 million gift specifically toward an on-site child care center. She said Bright Horizons has been contracted to manage the facility and that Adela Sabat Sinclair will oversee the program locally. Vasquez said the child care center is intended to support nurses, doctors and support staff with long or irregular hours by providing close, high-quality child care. She and other Eisenhower representatives said nearly 800 Palm Desert residents work for Eisenhower and stressed the center's role in staff recruitment and retention. Council members thanked Eisenhower Health for the update and for the community partnership. Council took no formal action; the presentation was informational.
