At the Sept. 25 meeting the planning director reported on recent City Council actions affecting planning and code.
Staff said the council on Sept. 16 approved parking-code amendments affecting how parking is handled when a property is in the gateway overlay and also fronts a freeway. The director told commissioners the council elected not to adopt a proposed school-overlay code amendment; staff had previously previewed that amendment to the commission.
The director also reported the council approved the Spring Cove (Riverside Crossing Lot 8) site plan and a major site plan amendment for Saratoga Springs Commercial Lot 607. In addition, the council selected a name for a riverfront park in the Wander development; staff said the new park will be called "River Walk at Saratoga Springs."
Why it matters: the gateway-overlay parking amendments change how parking is sited on properties affected by the gateway overlay and freeway frontage; the school-overlay amendment will not move forward as code, per council decision. The other approvals are project-specific endorsements by City Council.
No motions were taken by the Planning Commission on these items; the director presented them as informational updates.
