Commission approves five-year agreement with PFM to manage theater operations, waives competitive procurement

The Coral Springs City Commission on Sept. 25 approved a five-year professional services agreement with PFM to continue management of the theater and related programming, and voted to waive competitive procurement for the contract. City staff said PFM has been a long-term partner (about 26 years) in theater management and that the recent negotiations addressed software-handling and e-signature requirements to align with state restrictions. Staff and purchasing recommended the procurement-code waiver as allowed for professional services where there is a continuing relationship and unique qualifications. City staff and theater management said the new agreement includes tiered incentives intended to encourage more shows and educational programming. Staff noted the theater’s Next Stop Broadway Academy serves more than 800 students and the updated contract strengthens the city’s ability to attract larger productions and additional revenue. The commission approved the waiver and the five-year contract unanimously. Staff indicated the contract terms were negotiated with attention to software compliance and e-sign capability to meet state requirements.
