Commission approves $28,155 change order for Main Street streetscape Phase 6 after sinkhole repairs

Carson recommended approval of the change order and said the additional work was necessary to complete the scope safely and to current standards.
A commissioner moved approval and the motion was seconded; the commission approved the change order by voice vote. No roll-call vote was recorded at the meeting.
Why it matters: The change order is a minor (about 1.2%) increase to the original $2.4 million contract but reflects common construction‑phase risks (unforeseen utilities and localized ground failures) that can affect timing and budgets. The staff stated the item represents discovered costs that must be addressed to complete the downtown streetscape work.
