Grant County approves multiple budget adjustments and grant awards

Grant County commissioners on Sept. 25 approved a series of budget adjustment requests that add or increase revenue and expense budgets across multiple county funds. County finance staff summarized the items and said they would increase both revenue and expenditure lines where applicable.

Staff listed the items included in the BAR packet: capital outlay for EMS; a cooperative law enforcement grant; senior services funding; a DARE program award; Ridge Road improvement Phase 2 (previously bid and approved at an earlier meeting); a public warning system improvement grant; a Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) update grant; a grant for incident-commander radio interface equipment; grants for generators; an MFA loan for the Dos Gregos Fire Station project; and an increase for the Cori/Coricaminos transit budget award. Staff told the commission these BARs represent awarded grants, loans or budgeted adjustments and recommended approval.

Commissioner Flores moved to approve the budget adjustments and Commissioner Medina seconded; the motion passed by voice vote. County staff will process the adjustments and update the official budget records to reflect the new revenue and expense lines.

No individual BAR amounts were read into the record at length during the meeting; staff said the Ridge Road improvement item followed recent procurement actions and that the MFA loan pertained to a fire-station project. The BARs authorize staff to accept the awards and commit the funds as listed in the packet presented to the commission.
