Grant County commissioners on Sept. 25 approved two IT contracts to migrate the county’s productivity platform and to upgrade backup infrastructure. County IT staff presented the projects as budgeted items for the current fiscal year and requested signatures for both contracts.
The IT presenter told the commission the first contract covers migration of email, calendars, contacts and Drive data from Google Workspace to a Microsoft platform (described in the presentation as Office/Microsoft 365). The second contract will expand backup capacity to better protect servers, desktops and laptops and to provide enhanced security features.
The meeting record shows the two contract amounts presented as about $135,000 and about $133,000. The IT presenter said both projects were included in the fiscal-year budget and requested commission approval and signature. Commissioner Medina moved to approve both contracts and Commissioner Flores seconded the motion; the motion passed on a voice vote.
County staff said the backup work will increase storage capacity and allow wider endpoint backups; no implementation timeline beyond vendor delivery and signing was specified at the meeting. The contracts were described as budgeted items, and no additional county appropriation was requested on the floor during the vote.
The commission’s action authorizes the county to proceed with the vendor agreements and for county officials to sign the contracts; county staff will manage vendor coordination and project implementation.
