Commissioners approve operating addenda for four senior centers and one-year older-adult services grant

Commissioners on Sept. 25 approved budget addenda for four senior centers — Big Springs, Minnow Haven and two Messiah centers — to cover operating expenses and social recreation costs that will allow centers to provide transportation and outings for seniors. Christine Boden presented the request, saying each center would receive roughly $5,500 for the 2024–25 addendum.
Boden also sought board approval for the county’s one-year older adult services grant agreement with the Commonwealth. She said the state previously used three-year cooperative agreements but has switched to one-year agreements and asked for approval because the state requested a quick turnaround.
Commissioners approved the contracts and the grant agreement by voice vote with no public discussion. County staff did not provide a detailed expenditure schedule for the addenda during the presentation.
