New owners and operators of the auto‑body facility at 1034 Route 109 in Lindenhurst presented to the Town of Babylon Zoning Board of Appeals on Sept. 25, 2025, seeking renewal of the special exception that allows operation as a public garage. The board reserved decision and left the record open while the applicant addresses outstanding items from the fire marshal.
Cole Gartner of Long Island Perfect Permits represented the applicant and said the business now operating as Northstar Auto Body took over in March 2025 after the prior operator, Supreme Auto Collision, closed. Gartner told the board the new owners were not notified of an administrative requirement to renew the special permit when they purchased the business and are now seeking to regularize the use. He said there have been no structural alterations to the building other than painting, and the current hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
The applicant’s principal, Anthony Gigante, testified that vehicles parked along the front are primarily employee cars and that customer vehicles awaiting work are stored in the fenced rear lot overnight. The board asked the applicant to confirm compliance with previously imposed covenants and restrictions; the applicant agreed to comply. The Fire Marshal’s memo included items that must be addressed before the board can move to a final decision, and the board left the record open for the applicant to provide the requested fire‑marshal responses and any other required documentation.
No public opposition spoke on the matter at the hearing. The board advised the applicant to submit the Fire Marshal’s requested materials and any required plan updates; the board will issue a written decision after reviewing those materials.
