Board appoints Director Katie Goggins as Brightworks representative to cooperative assembly

The Roseville Area School Board on Thursday appointed Director Katie Goggins to represent the district on Brightworks' representative assembly, the Minnesota service cooperative that provides shared educational services to member districts. Director Mike Bogrzyzewski described the representative-assembly process and the nomination timeline; he encouraged board members to nominate themselves or colleagues for the delegate slots that Brightworks allocates. "The process begins by anyone on a school board nominating a colleague or themselves to be that delegate for their district," Bogrzyzewski said. Board members discussed timing and the fact that board membership will change after the upcoming election. To keep flexibility, the board appointed Director Katie Goggins to the Brightworks representative assembly through January or until the board chooses to designate another representative. The motion to appoint Goggins was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote. Brightworks provides cooperative services including multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and other shared professional development; board members noted recent Brightworks support for Harambee and MTSS work in the district. Director Goggins said she will serve as a placeholder and will represent the district at the Brightworks annual meeting and other assembly obligations as needed until the board reconsiders assignments in January.
