County approves striping on 331 Avenue; road stabilizer and Old 6 patching discussed

Chase County Commissioners voted Sept. 9 to approve a $3,640 quote from Contractor Services, Inc. to apply edge and centerline striping over 2.8 miles of 331 Avenue (the dump road).
Commissioner Jacci Brown moved to approve the quote; Commissioner Billie Muehlenkamp seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously. The motion authorizes the striping vendor, Contractor Services, Inc., to perform striping when scheduled.
During the open forum, Assistant Highway Superintendent Dick DeWester asked the board about using a stabilizer product on 734 Road, west of 320 Avenue. DeWester said the cost is $3,200 per bucket and each bucket treats roughly one‑third of a mile, and that soil samples indicated additional organic material needs to be added to the road before the stabilizer can be applied.
The board also asked about striping on the Champion blacktop; DeWester said he would contact CSI to see if they can stripe Champion blacktop when they are on site to stripe the dump road. Highway Superintendent Toney Krajewski reported he had stopped in to check in and said patching on Old 6 should be completed soon. No formal motions were recorded related to the 734 Road stabilizer or Champion blacktop stripe timing; the recorded motion was limited to the Contractor Services, Inc. striping quote for 331 Avenue.
