New Providence reports few confirmed HIB incidents in reporting period; investigations completed within 10 days

At a public hearing Sept. 24, New Providence school officials reported on student safety for reporting period two (Jan. 1–June 30, 2025), saying the district recorded zero incidents of weapon possession, one incident of violence, one incident of vandalism and two incidents of substance abuse.
The administration also summarized harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB) investigations: two HIB investigations at New Providence High School (neither affirmed), two at the middle school (neither affirmed), two at Salt Brook Elementary (neither affirmed) and seven at Allen W. Roberts Elementary (none affirmed). The district said all investigations were completed within 10 school days as required by law.
Officials listed the nature of allegations as related to race, color, gender, gender identity, gender expression and mental, physical or sensory disability. The anti‑bullying specialists named in the report were Chrisitello (New Providence High School), Wittenberg (New Providence Middle School), Kwiatkowski (Salt Brook) and Feliciano Allen (Allen W. Roberts), and the district said responses included disciplinary actions (detentions and in‑school and out‑of‑school suspensions) and educational/restorative supports such as student safety plans, conflict resolution, parent conferences and individual counseling.
The administration also reported training and preventive activities conducted during the period, including mandatory HIB law/policy training for specialists, social‑media and cyberbullying training, health‑curriculum instructional activities on bullying and peer relations, social‑emotional learning activities, Week of Respect and Red Ribbon Week programming.
