School board approves FY 2026 budget and submits it to ISBE

The school board voted to approve its fiscal year 2026 budget and authorized submission to the Illinois State Board of Education after opening and closing a public hearing on the plan. The board opened the hearing on the FY 2026 budget and then closed it before taking a roll-call vote to adopt the budget as presented and submit it to ISBE. Wendy, the district finance staff member who answered questions during the hearing, told the board that “nothing has changed since last month's presentation.” The board discussed the item as an action item and moved through the required procedural steps: a motion to open the hearing (moved by Brent and seconded by Coburn), a motion to close the hearing (moved by Jeffries and seconded by Coburn), and a subsequent motion to approve the FY 2026 budget. During the final roll call the following board members voted yes: Valletta, Coburn, Jeffries, Kullovic, White, Ostermeyer and Murphy. The board instructed staff to submit the adopted budget to the Illinois State Board of Education for its records and any required regulatory review.
