Chairwoman Kate Klunk thanked Representative Daley for bringing the resolution and said, “I do want to thank all of our midwives. Personally, I have enjoyed the care of midwives in both of my pregnancies, and they do wonderful work and should be celebrated.” Several members commented that the subject matter might be more directly relevant to the Health Committee or the Professional Licensing Committee.
Representative Barger had announced she would vote no on the agenda’s resolutions in protest of legislative focus, and the committee recorded 24 ayes and 1 nay. The resolution was reported without amendments and contains no funding or regulatory changes; it will move forward in the House as reported.
