The Templeton Select Board on Sept. 24 voted to appoint Amber DuPel as town accountant for a term ending June 30, 2028.
Board members described DuPel as an experienced municipal accountant who recently worked in Orange and noted she joined the town in August. DuPel said she has private accounting experience and municipal experience, and she told the board she planned to begin work immediately, including setting up a reimbursable account for the newly approved digital-equity grant.
"I came from Orange. Prior to that, I had private accounting experience, and I've quickly discovered no two towns are the same," DuPel said in brief remarks after the vote.
The motion to appoint DuPel passed on a roll-call vote; board members present voted yes.
Why it matters: The town accountant is responsible for municipal accounting, establishing grant accounts and ensuring reimbursements and payroll are tracked correctly; the appointee's immediate tasks include opening a reimbursable grant account to handle the TCTV digital-equity grant.
