County adopts ordinance to charge $100 for surveyor verification on alcohol-license forms

The surveyor said he has provided this verification for 13 years and that several other counties charge for the service; the fee is intended to cover staff time, travel and equipment costs.
Commissioners discussed the frequency of requests; the surveyor estimated roughly 25–30 requests per year but said he had not counted precisely. The ordinance specifies the fee fund as the surveyor drainage fund (fund 4919), according to staff.
The motion to adopt the ordinance carried 3-0. The county will collect the fee when a property owner or applicant requests the county verification of business location form for ATC (Alcohol and Tobacco Commission) permitting processes. Staff indicated they would return if legal questions arise.
Next steps: the ordinance will be implemented by the surveyor's office, and the county will begin charging $100 per form for the verification service.
