Plan commission approves relocated dumpster enclosure for Hendricks site; parking plan required

The City of Delafield Plan Commission on Sept. 24 approved a modified site plan for Hendricks Commercial Properties to relocate on-site dumpsters from the corner adjacent to Blue Collar Coffee to the south end of the parking lot, moving them further off Milwaukee Street and into an enclosed composite-material enclosure. Staff said the revised location will reduce street visibility and improve downtown aesthetics.
City planner Amy Barrows said the relocation had previously been approved in June but staff and the applicant worked with the garbage hauler and contractors and proposed the new location because the original site lacked room for an enclosure. The revised location would occupy the same number of dumpsters but could remove two to three parking spaces at most.
As part of the approval, the commission included a condition that the property owner submit a revised parking plan for the north side of Milwaukee Street for review and approval by engineering staff prior to adding any additional parking stalls, to ensure any new stalls function properly. The motion to approve the modified dumpster location and enclosure passed by voice vote.
No public opposition was raised during the hearing, and commissioners commented that the revised location would preserve a riverfront viewing area and improve the street appearance.
