Cloverdale — The Cloverdale City Council administered the oath of office on Sept. 24 to Police Officer Alex Segobiano, a Cloverdale native who began field training with the department.
Council members and attendees noted Segobiano’s local roots: he attended Jefferson, Washington and Cloverdale High School and earned an associate degree in criminal justice from Santa Rosa Junior College. Segobiano told the council he was “very excited and honored to have this opportunity to serve the city of Cloverdale” and thanked his family for their support; family members were present in the audience.
Council members noted his family history with the department: his father, Rudy Segobiano, is a retired sergeant with the Cloverdale Police Department and his grandfather, Joe Pollo, is a former police chief and council member. The mayor and council congratulated Segobiano and invited attendees to join a photo following the ceremony.
Segobiano is in the second phase of field training, staff said, and will continue with the department’s training program; no formal council action was required for the oath ceremony.
