Cloverdale — The City Council on Sept. 24 adopted the Cloverdale Citizen Recognition Program (CCRP), a formal policy that allows each councilmember to nominate one honoree per calendar year for a city‑issued certificate and public recognition during a council meeting.
Staff described the program structure, rotation and frequency: each of the five councilmembers may select one honoree per year (excluding a November–December slot to account for limited meetings), recipients will receive a photo and social media newsletter feature, and the city will provide up to $100 per honoree for a discretionary recognition item. The council increased the originally proposed $50 cap to $100 and approved the program by motion; the motion passed 4–0 with Councilmember Morganstern absent.
Staff said the program is intended as an internal policy that directs staff to schedule honoree presentations, maintain a rotation and handle city‑issued certificates. The city manager and staff confirmed the fiscal impact is modest (about $500 annually at $100 per nominee across five councilmembers) and can be managed within current budgets or via a minor amendment if necessary.
Council members praised the program as a way to celebrate local volunteers, organizations and businesses; staff will notify council when each member’s rotation approaches and coordinate scheduling and recognition items.
