Weld County vacates 2006 special-use permit for oil-and-gas support facility after rezoning

The Weld County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 24 approved resolution VAC25-0014 to vacate a use-by-special-use-permit (USR-1458), which had been recorded in 2006 to permit an oil-and-gas support and service facility. Matthew Bridal of the Department of Planning Services told the board the applicant requested vacation of the amended USR-1458 after site-plan reviews SVR 205-2 and SVR 205-3 were conditionally approved on April 4, 2025. Bridal said the Board previously approved a change of zone on Oct. 9, 2024 (COZ24-0005) that rezoned the subject properties from agricultural to I-2 medium industrial, and that the new zoning allows the uses via site-plan review. "Therefore, the Department of Planning Services is recommending approval of this vacation," Bridal said. The board approved the resolution without opening a public hearing, noting in the meeting that the item did not require a public hearing and moving directly to a vote. Commissioner Scott James moved to approve the resolution; Commissioner Kuttler seconded the motion and the resolution passed by voice vote.
