County approves fingerprinting kiosk amendment to reduce staff time

Weld County commissioners on Sept. 24 approved amendment no. 1 to the biometric fingerprinting identification services agreement to permit installation of an IDEMIA self-service kiosk and authorized the chair to sign contract ID 9927. Department of Human Services staff said the county currently conducts fingerprinting for the public, foster parents and child-care providers and that staff trained by IDEMIA perform those functions. The vendor IDEMIA is transitioning to a kiosk model, which staff said will let customers operate the kiosk themselves and reduce staff time. "So that is taking away quite a bit of our staff time," a county representative said. Commissioner Annette Peppler moved to approve the amendment; Commissioner Kevin Ross seconded the motion and the board approved the contract by voice vote.
