San Luis council approves $247,103 prefabricated restroom for Giordano Park

The San Luis City Council on Sept. 24 approved the purchase of a prefabricated restroom unit for Giordano Park for $247,103.61 to replace aging restroom structures, city staff said. Angelica Roldan, director of Parks and Recreation, told the council that the proposed CXT precast Cortez model would provide single‑occupant, fully accessible flush restrooms (four toilets in total), stainless steel fixtures, electric hand dryers, electronic flush valves and anti‑graffiti coating. Roldan said this would be the third prefabricated restroom the city has installed, joining units at East Community Park and the 9B Park. Roldan said prefabricated units can be more cost‑effective than traditional construction, offer predictable pricing with fewer change orders, and allow faster off‑site construction and on‑site installation to minimize disruptions to park operations. She also said the units are engineered to meet ADA and local accessibility requirements. A council member moved to approve the purchase as presented; council voiced aye and the mayor announced the motion carried. No individual roll‑call votes were read into the record. Staff noted the same prefabricated model has been used successfully in the city’s other parks; regional peers such as Yuma were cited as also adopting prefabricated restroom solutions. The city will proceed with procurement under the vendor quote presented at the meeting.
