The Planning Commission on Thursday unanimously approved a proposal by Iona to build a public fast-charging electric-vehicle (EV) station at 2201 Alemany Boulevard in the Excelsior-Outer Mission neighborhood.
The project reclaims a long-vacant surface lot and proposes eight dual charging pedestals that can serve as many as 16 vehicles at a time, an elevated canopy, lighting, stormwater retention and a modest perimeter fence with accompanying landscaping. The sponsor told the commission the chargers are open to all EVs, will have 24/7 video monitoring, a helpline number and no on-site attendants.
