San Marino USD board adopts resolution confirming sufficiency of textbooks and instructional materials for 2025–26

The board took the action after staff recommended adoption and after there were no public comments during the hearing. The motion to adopt the resolution was made and seconded on the floor; the measure passed by the members present.
The action fulfills Education Code 60119, which requires each school district governing board to hold an annual public hearing on the sufficiency of textbooks and instructional materials within the first eight weeks of the school year and to adopt a resolution certifying whether the district has sufficient materials for each pupil in core subjects. District staff had posted notice of the hearing at least 10 days in advance in accordance with the code and presented the required documentation to the board during the Sept. 23 meeting. Board members asked no substantive questions during the hearing, and no members of the public offered remarks in person or online.
Board President Joseph Chang presided over the hearing. Superintendent Dr. Dela Torre was present for the staff presentation; Dr. Dina Richter conducted the public hearing portion and confirmed required notices and timelines had been followed. The motion to adopt Resolution No. 5 was moved and seconded during the action item portion of the meeting and was approved by the members present: President Joseph Chang, Mr. Song, Mrs. Lam, Mrs. Ryan, Mrs. Gia and Mr. Chen, with Student Board Member Burke recorded as participating in the vote. The resolution action is an official finding required by state law and does not change curricular adoptions beyond confirming sufficiency for the current school year.
The board’s formal adoption completes the procedural requirement for 2025–26. Any questions about specific textbook adoptions or supplemental materials must be directed to district curriculum staff; the board’s action documents will be available for public inspection in the district office and on the district website.
