HNI outlines fall/winter events and new wayfinding signs for downtown

A representative of HNI updated the council Wednesday about downtown events this fall and winter and reported that wayfinding signs have been installed at multiple locations.
HNI described plans for three nights of pay rides at a trailhead in mid-October, Halloween and Ghost Walk events the next weekend, a Richmond’s Hope Crawl on Nov. 23, a Thanksgiving/Black Friday weekend business outreach, a December 6 holiday market and home tour, and a shorter, earlier-starting holiday-light parade on Dec. 7 (starting at 5:30 p.m., half hour earlier than last year).
The HNI representative said many vendors will park at Newburgh Elementary School and that events will be staged at Zion United Church of Christ and along First Street. The group plans to contract off-duty officers for traffic and safety control and to use some street-side parking near First and Fillmore for vendors and volunteers.
HNI reported that 11 wayfinding signs have been installed on posts around town but that the sign-labeling machine at the manufacturer (Science by Design) is temporarily down; the manufacturer expects to repair the machine and ship label inserts so participating businesses may have their names added to the signs.
Council members thanked HNI for the calendar and confirmed HNI will coordinate with the police chief on off-duty coverage; no formal council action was required.
