The Sellersburg Redevelopment Commission on Sept. 24 approved a traffic‑signal maintenance agreement with the Indiana Department of Transportation for the State Road 60 and Applegate Lane intersection to support the new Wawa development. The motion passed unanimously, 4‑0, and commissioners authorized a signed copy to be submitted to INDOT immediately.
The agreement resolves a remaining item needed to allow construction to proceed at the Wawa site, commission members said, and reflects several rounds of review with INDOT. Commission staff reported INDOT returned the draft with standard boilerplate edits; the commission reviewed those edits and voted to approve the revised document so staff could file it with INDOT.
Commissioners said the maintenance agreement is one of several multiparty documents the town has negotiated with the developer and INDOT to create the conditions for the store’s development. Commissioners asked that a signed copy be submitted the next business day to keep the project on schedule.
With the vote, any of the authorized commission signatories may execute the agreement and staff will transmit the signed document to INDOT for final processing. Commission members and staff told the meeting they have been coordinating closely with the developer and INDOT as the project moves toward construction.
