The Wiseburn Unified School District board on Tuesday adopted Resolution No. 25/26.03 certifying that the district meets the state's instructional materials requirements for 2025-26. The board opened and closed a public hearing on the item and voted 4-0 to adopt the resolution.
District staff said the public hearing is part of the annual process to confirm students have access to required textbooks and adaptive materials. "This is just a process we do each and every school year just to ensure that our students have access to all the adaptive materials ... and we just wanted everyone in the community to be aware that we have met that compliance," said Maggie (district staff).
During the board's action on the item, a district representative clarified that the district's writer's workshop program, which the board has adopted for classroom instruction, is an instructional program and not an adopted textbook on the official list. "The writer's workshop ... is not a text," the speaker said, adding it is an instructional program used by the district.
The motion to adopt the resolution carried 4-0. The board did not change curriculum adoptions at the meeting; the resolution certified compliance and maintained the district's current mix of adopted materials and instructional programs.
