Superintendent Hockrider and her cabinet said the position‑control changes are administrative adjustments to the number of position slots the district maintains. "When a position is abolished, that doesn't mean somebody loses their job," Hockrider told the board, adding that the district uses the position‑control process to keep staffing and budgets aligned with enrollment and program needs.
Board members asked whether the changes were driven by enrollment or by programmatic shifts; district staff said decisions reflected a mix of vacant slots, collapsed classes where enrollment declined and other administrative considerations. The superintendent reiterated the district’s commitment that services available to students last year remain available this year.
The board also acknowledged receipt of a donation from the Albany Fund for Education, which the board approved as part of routine consent.
