Council approves fall tree-planting contract and sanitary sewer GIS update

The Mayor and Council of Princeton on Sept. 23 approved two separate professional agreements: a contract with Sunset Creations not to exceed $62,845 for fall tree planting and a professional services agreement with Remington & Vernick Engineers not to exceed $102,330 to create and update sanitary sewer GIS layers using existing digital drawings and surveying. Councilmembers praised the tree-planting plan as a response to canopy losses in neighborhoods identified in a recent tree-canopy analysis and thanked municipal staff for prioritizing plantings in areas such as Witherspoon–Jackson. The sewer-GIS work was described as infrastructure maintenance that will improve the municipality’s mapping and long-term asset-management planning; a councilmember said spending now will save money later by supporting better maintenance. Both items were approved by motion and second and passed by voice vote as part of routine consent/resolution items on the agenda.
