County terminates temporary hangar lease after airport hangar construction and move

Davis County commissioners voted Sept. 23 to terminate a temporary hangar lease after the county moved stored courthouse items into a new hangar built by the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) at the airport. Commissioners recounted that county staff and partners arranged for EDC to build a hangar quickly to provide storage space needed for courthouse relocation work. The hangar — described in meeting remarks as a roughly $350,000 asset — was completed in October following planning. County staff said the hangar is now empty and ready to be purchased by the airport from EDC. "We moved all of our stuff in. And then, as of yesterday ... the airport hangar is now officially empty," Scott Myers said. Commissioner Keith moved to terminate the lease and Commissioner Cook seconded; the motion passed 3–0. County officials thanked the EDC and airport partners for the collaboration that allowed timely storage and turnover of county items; staff noted some reused and resold county property but provided no further financial detail in the meeting.
