Davis County commissioners voted Sept. 23 to pursue shifting existing bond coverage and to request an insurer increase in bonding capacity to address repairs on 200 North. Staff said Indemnity National, the county’s existing bonding company, reported available additional bonding capacity up to $250,000. Commissioners discussed moving a $37,500 bond from 350 North (a gravel road) to 200 North and keeping the $272,500 bond on 350 East in place to cover a coal mine entrance south to the highway that county staff described as heavily deteriorated. "If we didn't have it bonded and they continue to use it for a year, 2 year, 6 months or whatever they decide to haul on it, we could be left with having to repave it when they're done," a county official said about 350 East. Commissioners recorded that the existing bond arrangement requires the company to cover legal costs if disputes arise. The board approved a motion (Commissioner Cook moved; Commissioner Keith seconded) to proceed with moving the 350 North bond to 200 North, to request the additional $250,000 capacity, and to confirm that the company cover legal costs; the vote was 3–0. County staff said they will continue negotiations with the bonding company and seek a signed agreement to finalize the financial details.
