District officials told the Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 Board of Education that the district's attendance-boundary study update will be posted online after the meeting and that community input sessions are scheduled for Oct. 8 at Plainfield East and Oct. 9 at Plainfield Central, both at 6 p.m.
A district communications representative said the same presentation that appears in the meeting packet will be shown at each input session and that sessions will include a presentation followed by breakout groups to collect community input. "Please go to our website that has the most up to date information related to our attendance boundary study," the representative said, and noted an online feedback form where residents can submit comments.
The district emphasized that no decisions have been made and that the input sessions are part of the process to summarize community feedback for the board. Later in the meeting, a representative of the KATE parent-network group said members were briefed on the steps RSPN Associates followed in developing the district's initial boundary proposal and described the process as "rigorous." The KATE representative said the parent-group members are helping to share accurate information with the community.
The board did not vote on boundary changes during the meeting; the presentation and future sessions are part of a public-engagement process described by district staff as intended to gather community feedback prior to any board decisions.
