County commissioners approved a change order to reinstall half the bollards removed from a recently constructed trail and approved the contractor’s pay application, leaving only retainage outstanding.
Park and recreation staff said board members found evidence that side‑by‑sides and golf carts had driven on the path. The board therefore requested reinstallation of half the bollards to deter motorized vehicles while preserving trail access for pedestrians and cyclists. Park staff said the change order reduces the contract for those items and that a follow-up small increase will cover installing some bollards back in place.
The contract with Niblock is nearly complete, park staff said; commissioners approved pay application No. 4 for $25,817.387 (as presented in the meeting) with retainage remaining until final completion. Staff also said ribbon cutting for the trail is scheduled for the ninth of the month and reported early weekend use by residents.
Commissioners asked whether an enforceable ordinance exists to ticket motorized vehicles on the trail; park staff and the county attorney said no ordinance is drafted but that they would consult the county attorney to prepare consistent countywide language so enforcement would be uniform across jurisdictions.
The change order and pay application passed by voice vote.
