Councilman Alan Quillen reported city public works and wastewater operations activity, including ongoing fire hydrant flushing, VOC sampling, sewer service repairs, and completion of routine maintenance tasks. He said the city met with GMB to finalize the wastewater treatment facility plan and expects project kickoff early next year.
Quillen reported the wastewater and compost plant are performing well overall, with dewatering in good condition and testing under way for new polymers. He said the belt filter press polymer pumps are experiencing reduced capacity and that a replacement pump has been ordered. The department completed DMR and leachate reporting and performed WET sampling tied to a PAA trial while testing an alternative polymer for the drum thickener.
Public works also completed catch basin cleaning, alley grading, irrigation repairs at Williams Pond Park and other routine city infrastructure tasks. Quillen noted camera inspection of new sewer lines at Bel Air for acceptance and ongoing GIS location work. The meeting record contains no procurement contract award motions during this report; these items were presented as operational updates.
