The Mission City Council approved a budget amendment Tuesday that realigns general and utility capital project accounts and adjusts line items across funds to reflect revenues that exceeded original budget estimates and to address auditor questions.
Finance staff said the amendment reclassifies and aligns several revenue and expenditure line items so year‑to‑date accounting matches actual collections and appropriations. Staff and the interim city manager recommended approval to resolve auditor concerns about account alignment. The council voted 5-0 to approve the amendment.
Council members were also presented with the city’s July 2025 unaudited financial statements; the presentation required no council action. Staff invited questions but none were raised on the July report.
Staff said the budget amendment is an accounting alignment and does not itself authorize new spending beyond the appropriations and capital project authorizations already in place; departments will follow the adjusted budget lines for ongoing projects and reporting to auditors.
