City staff announced details for the community event "Monsters on Main," scheduled for Friday, Oct. 10, beginning at 6 p.m. on Main Street. Millicent Norbert, speaking on behalf of the city, said organizers are inviting golf carts, bicycles and walking groups to participate and asked businesses and residents to consider entering a group.
Norbert said floats are not permitted. Interested participants can register at the utilities counter at City Hall, paying $25 by cash, check (payable to Broussard Economic Development Corporation) or Venmo. The parade route will start near Town Pharmacy and end at City Hall; Norbert asked onlookers to line the route from Town Pharmacy to City Hall.
Organizers will judge categories including best golf cart, best bicycle and best walking group. There will also be costume awards for "most original" in two age brackets: 18 and older and 17 and younger. Immediately after the parade, candy distribution will take place in the City Hall parking lot from about 6:45 p.m. until about 8 p.m., and attendees can also expect food and beverage vendors, a photo booth and activities for children.
Norbert thanked volunteers and youth who helped hand out candy at the meeting and encouraged community participation. The item was presented under other business; no council action was required.
