The Wausau Common Council on Sept. 23 approved a joint resolution authorizing execution of an airport ground lease to allow hangar construction for an individual identified at the meeting as Mike Yankei Addis. The item had been approved by the airport committee (4–0) and finance (4–0) prior to council action. Council members voted 10–0 after suspending rules to consider the referral.
Alder Rasmussen, who moved the council motion, said the ground lease is a standard agreement used for hangar construction at the airport and that approving it quickly was necessary because the construction season is ending. The council did not discuss lease financial terms in the public session.
The authorization permits execution of the lease under the city’s standard airport ground-lease form; final construction permits and inspections will follow routine airport and building-department review processes.
